Hajj is the Islamic pilgrimage to Makkah (Mecca), Saudi Arabia, and the fifth pillar of Islam. It is obligatory once in a lifetime for every Muslim adult who has the physical and financial means. Hajj takes place annually during the Islamic month of Dhul-Hijjah (12th month), specifically on days 8–13.
Allah says in the Quran: "And proclaim to the people the Hajj [pilgrimage]; they will come to you on foot and on every lean camel; they will come from every distant pass." (Surah Al-Hajj, 22:27)
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: "Whoever performs Hajj for the sake of Allah and does not utter obscene speech or commit sins will return as pure as the day his mother gave birth to him." (Bukhari & Muslim). Hajj is both a physical journey and a spiritual transformation.
Enter the sacred state at the Miqat, wearing white garments (men) and modest clothing (women).
Arrival Tawaf — circle the Kaaba 7 times counter-clockwise upon arriving in Makkah.
The Standing at Arafat on 9 Dhul-Hijjah — the pinnacle and most essential rite of Hajj.
Spending the night at Muzdalifah after Arafat, collecting pebbles for the stoning.
Stoning the three pillars (Jamarat) in Mina on 10–13 Dhul-Hijjah, symbolizing rejection of evil.
The obligatory pillar Tawaf performed after the Eid sacrifice and before exiting Ihram.
